…I can’t believe it.
This past year has been one of the most challenging, yet fulfilling years of my life.
I feel like I have stepped out of my comfort zone every single day!
Starting my own beauty business has been the highlight of my year, by far – because I get to help my lovely clients achieve their ideal brows, and help make a positive difference in their lives.
So, what does this mean for you? And what does this mean for me in 2020?
I have so much more I want to offer to you, and so much more that I want to achieve now that I’ve set foot into this industry.
Who Am I, And What Do I Do?
Before I dive in, I wanted to give you a run-down of who I am, as I enjoy sharing with my clients and connecting personally.
So first thing’s first!
I’ve always been artistic.
I grew up as a dancer. Eventually, I began to practice yoga, as well. I’ve been creating art from a very young age; it’s a natural desire for me. To put it simply, I love getting lost in the flow of creating something beautiful.
This is what allowed me, as a teen, to sit myself down – hours upon hours – and teach myself how to draw realism.
I’ve actually been drawing professionally for about eight years; I specialize in realistic portraits of humans and pets.
Drawing has a very special place in my life, and I will always love doing it.
That’s why I ended up taking my love for drawing, creativity, and realistic art to the next level; I found microblading!
With 8+ years of experience in the realistic art industry, I knew microblading would be the perfect match for my passion.
So 2019.. What Even Happened?!
Well.. at the beginning of 2019, I had no idea what I wanted.
I was literally going in circles looking for jobs that could be fulfilling, and allow me to be creative.. But nothing really fit.
It wasn’t until I learned about microblading in early March, that anything had sparked a real interest. I decided to do some research, and learn as much as I could about this life-changing permanent makeup procedure.
For months I binge-watched videos, scoured websites, and followed numerous social media accounts because I was so intrigued and hungry to learn.
After months of contemplation, I finally signed up for my first microblading training in October.
And let me tell you, I had never been so scared and excited at the same time to do something.
My training was phenomenal (for those of you wondering, I was certified by Mariah at MicroBeauty Studio). I left my training with full confidence that I could begin running my own microblading business right away!
One month later, for once in my life, I was completely sure of the path I was taking. I began my business, and blog, in mid November; and despite the challenges of starting a business from scratch, I couldn’t be happier! I’m proudly certified, licensed, and insured, and I now work as my own boss out of a beautiful spa in Burnaby – so you can book with confidence that you are in good hands.
Why I Love What I Do
I’ve learned that one of the best parts of creating a custom pencil portrait for someone, was that I could see the look on their face after they receive it.
The happiness; the awe; the emotion.
I love creating something meaningful for people; something that makes a positive difference in their lives.
I find that I can experience a similar interaction by microblading.
There’s nothing like knowing that I’ve helped make someone’s life a little easier – by helping them sleep in in the mornings; or helped boost their confidence; or given them the brows they’ve never had; or eliminated their fear of pools, those of which will inevitably wash brow makeup off if you jump in! (Trust me, I know that fear!)
I love knowing that I’ve helped someone. And that’s what I want my beauty business to be – a place where people can find their confidence, and really feel like they’ve won!
Where I’m At Today
I’ve been working my butt off to create the best quality of microblading that I can! And I’m loving every second.
However, even though it’s only been a short time that I’ve been in this particular industry – I’m completely obsessed.
I spend a LOT of my time practicing and learning. I’m secretly a perfectionist, so I want my work to be up to my high standards.
Even though my microblading business is young, I do have 8+ years experience in realistic pencil art.
I have spent countless hours studying faces, eyes, shapes, and brows; and drawing them to accuracy.
Microblading is an art. I’m so glad I could find a place within the PMU industry to share and expand my skills, and love for the procedure!
Even though I’m still in the early stages of my business; I want to share with you that I can’t wait to take my service to the next level.
Throughout the year, I am planning on taking more PMU trainings, including additional microblading courses; lash extensions; and more! (…Can’t just give everything away, right? 😉 )
Last but definitely not least, I wanted to extend a huge thank-you to everyone who has helped me succeed so far.
My trainer was a huge part in this; without high-quality training, I would not have the confidence or results that we all desire, especially so early in my career. So big hugs to MicroBeauty!
I also want to warmly thank all of my beautiful clients, who have trusted me with their brows from the beginning! You’re seriously the best clients ever, and I can’t wait to see you again for your touch-ups! 🙂
And big thanks to my family and friends, who have supported me along the way. You guys are the best. <3
I’m so excited to see what 2020 will bring us – I’m so looking forward to expanding my services and business in new ways, so I can help all of you wake up feeling flawless!
Please let me know if there is any particular service you’d love to see – besides eyelash extensions, what other temporary or permanent makeup services are you dying to have?
Or, have you had any “bad” experiences with PMU before? If so, what are they? I’d love to learn how I can help correct them.
